PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motor with a brake not employing a braking force and a maintaining force based on friction. SOLUTION: In the motor 1 with a brake in which a braking device is provided on the motor, the braking device 4 consists of a stationary side member 5 and movable side member 6. The stationary side member 5 includes a stationary yoke 7 attached on a stator 2 of the motor and configured of a soft magnetic material having a plurality of projections 7a. The movable side member 6 includes: a movable yoke 8 positioned on the projections 7a of the stationary yoke 7 via a gap and coupled to a rotor 3; and a brake magnet 9 attached on the movable yoke 8. Braking is applied to the rotor 3 by a magnetic suction force of the magnetized brake magnet 9 for the stationary yoke 7. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
