PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water-based coating composition forming a coating film having optical coherent design and functions as a can coating, such as heat resistance, water resistance, adhesion and processibility, and to provide an aluminium DI can having a cured coating layer of the coating composition. SOLUTION: The water-based coating composition for aluminium DI can comprises a titanium dioxide pigment (A) surface-treated with alumina and zirconia and having 9-200 nm average dispersive diameter, and a binding resin (B) comprising an aqueous acrylic resin (a) and an aqueous polyester resin (b) as main ingredients and containing an aqueous amino resin (c) as a curing agent, wherein the content of the titanium dioxide pigment (A) is 1-10 pts.mass based on 100 pts.mass solid of the binding resin (B).
