PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a lid closing operation to be smoothly performed in a packaging container which is suitable for housing food such as a hamburger being offered at a fast food store or the like. SOLUTION: In this freely openable/closable packaging container 1a, a step section 30 is provided on the upper edges of the right and left side plates 13 and 14 of the container section (a). When a lid is closed, the step section 30 functions to extend the side plates 23 and 24 of the lid section b to the outside, and therefore, the lid closing becomes smooth. The deformation of first fastening claws 12B and 12B in the container section (a) is made easier by constituting the upper edges of the fastening claws 12B and 12B of one sheet, and the generation of cracks on the upper ends 35 and 35 of the fastening sections of the lid section b is avoided.
