PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an adaptive directional receiver which is easily small-sized and capable of stable and fast processing. SOLUTION: The adaptive directional receiver comprises an active element RE capturing a radio signal in the air; a baseband signal generation unit 1 connected to the active element RE for generating a standard signal and a reception signal from the radio signal as a baseband signal; a target function generator 3 for generating a target function from the standard signal and the reception signal generated by the baseband signal generation unit 1; an antenna control unit 4 which searches for conditions on which the target function becomes an optimal value using the target function output from the target function generator 3; and first and second parasite elements PE1 and PE2 which are spatially separated from the active element RE for a distance that is about 1/10 of the wavelength of a carrier wave of the radio signal, respectively and whose ground reactance values are adjusted by the antenna control unit 4, respectively, wherein the ground reactance of the first and the second parasite elements PE1, PE2 is controlled.
