PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reproduce data with excellent handleability for a user by performing processing in appropriate processing time for detecting information for copyright protection. SOLUTION: In the data reproducing method, in the processing of detecting watermark information, the retry processing is limited even when the detection fails during setup, and the weighting of the retry processing is changed so as to detect the watermark information when it is identified that the watermark information is surely recorded.
