PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electro-optic device that can reduce transverse crosstalk while suppressing consumed electric power and to provide a method for driving an electro-optic device and an electronic apparatus. SOLUTION: The electro-optic device 1 has a display region (A) where pixels 150 are arranged in accordance with intersections of scanning lines Y and data lines X, and a light source irradiating the display region (A) with light. The electro-optic device 1 includes a scanning line driving circuit 20 to supply a selective voltage to select scanning lines Y in a prescribed order and a data line driving circuit 30 to supply image signals to data lines X. The data line driving circuit 30 supplies image signals to the data lines X corresponding to an illumination display region which is selectively illuminated by the light source, and supplies signals different from the image signals to the data lines X corresponding to a non-illumination display region where selective illumination is not carried out by the light source.
