PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for applying pretension of a power transmission chain capable of improving uniformity of the length and chain pitch of a chain and stabilizing quality, a pretension applying device used for its method, and a power transmission device. SOLUTION: An endless looped chain 1p formed by flexibly connecting two or more laminated link plates 2 by pin members 3, 4 is placed over each of upper rollers 35 and a lower roller 36 to form a polygon, and the chain 1p is endlessly rotated while applying tensile load to the chain 1p by each of the rollers 35, 36.
