The invention relates to a motor vehicle seat comprising a seat cushion (2) and a backrest (3), wherein said backrest (3) is pivotable between a vertical position of use and a substantially horizontal loading position and is provided with a cover plate (5) on the rear side thereof, which is used in the form of a loading floor in said loading position and the seat also comprises at least one plate section (9) pivotable about a swivelling axis (C) transversal with respect to the motor vehicle longitudinal axis. Said plate section (9) is mounted in such a way that it forms a loading edge extending from a loading deck to the loading floor formed by the cover pate (5) rear side in the loading position. The plate section can also form an entire or partial separation between a loading space arranged behind the motor vehicle seat (1) and an area arranged thereunder in the vertical position of use of the backrest (3).
