A can for a cylindrical lithium secondary battery is provided to comprise protrusions formed on the bottom plate of the can, and thus to have improved weldability with a negative electrode tap by increasing contact resistance when coming into contact with the negative electrode tap. A can(330) for a cylindrical lithium secondary battery is applied to a cylindrical lithium secondary battery including: an electrode assembly that has a positive electrode plate and a negative electrode plate facing each other, a separator interposed between the positive electrode plate and the negative electrode plate, and a positive electrode tap and a negative electrode tap formed on the positive electrode plate and the negative electrode plate, respectively; a can(330) for accommodating the electrode assembly; and a cap assembly which seals the top opening of the can(330). The can(330) has a side plate(342) and a bottom plate(331). Protrusions(335) for facilitating welding with the negative electrode tap are formed on the bottom plate(331). The negative electrode tap is welded onto the protrusions(335).
