PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording and reproducing device which efficiently performs manual compilation. SOLUTION: A system controller changes a reproducing speed based on an editing point of reference data so as to conduct manual edition when an object title is reproduced. Namely, a reproducing speed is largely decreased at a time point earlier by t than time points T1, T2, T3, T4 and T5, which are all the editing points of the reference data, to enable a user to easily designate the editing point. When the user designates the editing points at time points u1, u2, u3, u4 and u5, respectively, the reproducing speed is restored to the original speed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
