PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a registering apparatus capable of enhancing the accuracy of authentication, a collation apparatus, an extraction method and a program. SOLUTION: Features of the subject of biometrics in a predetermined living part which are contained in image signals outputted from an image pickup element as results of image pickup at different image pickup positions for the subject of biometrics are extracted as feature images in each predetermined period according to relative movement between the subject of biometrics and the image pickup element. For each of the feature images extracted, similarity between the current feature image to be processed and the next feature image to be processed is detected, and if the similarity is equal to or greater than a threshold, a current feature image to be processed is used as the subject of registration or the subject to be collated with the subject of registration.
