PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a facility for forming a stator core piece or a rotor core piece by punching a thin metal plate so that the core piece is not separated therefrom and manufacturing a small other core piece from the inside region of the stator core piece or rotor core while enhancing the yield of the thin metal plate (plate to be processed). SOLUTION: On the prestage of a main press work step, an auxiliary press work step for forming small core pieces 14 smaller than the diameter of a circular opening 13 sequentially by punching is provided. After the small core pieces 14 are punched from a thin metal plate 10, a ring piece 25 for forming the circular opening 13 by removing the small core pieces 14 on the inside is punched out and removed in a step immediately before the main press work step or in a step on the way.
