PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thin slice manufacturing apparatus capable of manufacturing a thin slice by automatically exposing a living body sample suitable for observation from an embedding block in which a biosample is embedded, and a thin slice manufacturing method. SOLUTION: The thin slice manufacturing apparatus 1 includes a feed means 8 capable of cutting the embedding block B in a predetermined thickness and moving a cutter 4 in a thickness direction Y with respect to the embedding block B, a cutting means 3 for moving the cutter 4 in a cutting direction X with respect to the embedding block B to cut it, an observation means 12 for observing the cut surface B2 of the embedding block B cut by the cutting means 3 to acquire observation data and a control part 9 for setting the moving quantity due to the feed means 8 to set feed quantity to successively cut the embedding block B by the cutting means 3 and judging the quality of the cut surface B2 on the basis of the acquired observation data and altering the moving quantity due to the feed means 8 to main cutting quantity when the cut surface B2 is determined to be good.
