PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water heater capable of preventing release of heat energy of hot water stored in a hot water storage container while retaining heat, and minimize power consumption in retaining heat. SOLUTION: This water heater comprises the hot water storage container 17 having a heating device 16, a water purifying device 18 for purifying the water supplied to the container 17, a hot water pathway 22 connecting the container 17 and a hot water supply port 13 of a water faucet 15 facing a sink 11a, a steam pathway 23 connecting an upper space in the container 17 and a steam port 14 of the water faucet 15, and a heat insulating body 26 insulating the container 17. The heat insulating body 26 covers a side face and a top face of the container 17 in a state of opening a lower portion, and the hot water pathway 22 and the steam pathway 23 are connected with the water faucet 15 through an opening portion of a lower part of the heat insulating body 26. Thus the container 17 is covered with the heat insulating body 26, and as the heat insulating body 26 does not have a penetrating portion of the pathway, the release of heat energy of the hot water can be prevented, and the power consumption in retaining heat can be minimized.
