PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition enhanced in the reactivity between a calcium silicate and a rubber polymer for the purpose of ameliorating the decline in the reinforcing tendency and abrasion resistance of a rubber composition as drawbacks in compounding such calcium silicate as wollastonite. SOLUTION: The rubber composition comprises (A) 100 pts.wt. of a diene rubber including a styrene-butadiene copolymer rubber, (B) silica and (C) 5-35 pts.wt., on a calcium silicate basis, of calcium silicate powder 1-100μm in average particle size surface-treated with a sulfur-containing silane coupling agent so as to be 20-120 pts.wt. in the total amount of the calcium silicate powder and the silica.
