PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester film for mold release without a microdefect accompanying precise various applications. SOLUTION: The polyester film for mold release keeps the number of defects with a depth of 0.5μm or more below five pieces/m<SP>2</SP>, consists of a polyester A layer and a polyester B layer at least, and has a center line roughness SRa (A) on the surface of the A layer of 4-15 nm, a ten-point average roughness SRz (A) of 300 nm or less, a center line roughness SRa (B) of the surface of the B layer of 10-30 nm, a ten-point average roughness height SRz (B) of 600 nm or less, and a SRa (B) larger by 2-15 nm than the SRa (A).
