The invention relates to a hangable, non-supporting interior ceiling with longitudinal members (1) defining a longitudinal direction of the ceiling, and cross members (2) which define a transverse direction of the ceiling and preferably laterally connect the longitudinal members (1), wherein the cross members (2) are supported by the longitudinal members (1) and wherein, preferably, elongated supporting elements (3) are provided to hang the longitudinal members (1) from a supporting ceiling. This invention is distinguished in that the longitudinal members (1) and the cross members (2) are designed as extruded profiles made of light metal, in particular aluminium, or, if subjected to a lighter loading, are made of a fibre-reinforced plastic, said extruded profiles, on the one hand, having closed hollow chambers (6) for stiffening purposes and, on the other hand, having outwardly open receptacles (7) and grooves (8) for the fitting of installation parts and additional parts and for connecting purposes.
