PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital broadcasting receiver capable of performing power supply control for a receiving circuit of digital terrestrial broadcasting to reduce power consumption, in a status when the digital terrestrial broadcasting cannot be viewed. SOLUTION: The digital broadcasting receiver determines that it can perform viewing of digital terrestrial broadcasting, only when a signal can be detected by an IF signal detection 102, synchronization of a demodulation signal can be detected by a demodulator 103, and a synchronization signal (TS synchronization) of a TS decoder 106 can be detected on channel scanning of digital terrestrial broadcasting. If there is no channel which can be viewed as a result of channel scanning of digital terrestrial broadcasting, it is determined the receiver is in a status where digital terrestrial broadcasting cannot be viewed. Then, a power supply control 105 is turned off, and power supply is stopped for a receiving circuit 104 of digital terrestrial broadcasting. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
