PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such a problem that digital content converted into a plain text can not be protected during the period of time that the digital content including a copy prevention signal is decoded and transmitted to a display device. SOLUTION: This receiver is equipped with: a decoding device for decoding a digital AV signal including a copy prevention signal; an AV output device for outputting the decoded digital AV signal; a digital AV transmission path for connecting the decoding device and the AV output device; a protection device encompassing the digital AV transmission path; a protection state detecting device for detecting that the protection device has been removed; and a protection state storage device for storing the fact that the protection device has been removed, and the receiver stops an AV output from the decoding device when detecting that the protection device has been removed.
