PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and method for processing an image capable of reproducing a color conserving a gradation property as much as possible without simply deteriorating an accuracy so much, while using a color-gamut mapping means having a versatility from conventional devices. SOLUTION: A first mapping section 1 converts the first color coordinates of a shell in a first color reproducing region into second color coordinates of the shell in a second color reproducing region by a movement containing a component changing a hue angle. A second mapping section 2 acquires third color coordinates on the shell in the second color reproducing region at a time when the first color coordinates are converted at an equal hue angle. A shell-color setter 3 sets fourth color coordinates between the second color coordinates and the third ones. A hue-angle changing section 4 changes the hue angle so that the second color coordinates are converted into the fourth color coordinates regarding color coordinates within a range of the second color reproducing region.
