PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid electrolytic capacitor in which electrical characteristics fall is eliminated e.g. fall of the capacitance, increase in the dielectric loss, or increase in the leakage current. SOLUTION: After pressure forming and sintering valve action metal powder and forming an oxide film layer on the surface of a porous sintered body on which an anode lead wire is planted, a solid electrolytic layer comprising manganese dioxide is formed on the oxide film, and then a cathode lead-out layer is formed. In such a method for manufacturing a solid electrolytic capacitor, manganese dioxide formed on the surface of the anode lead wire is removed with gelatinous removing liquid, after the manganese dioxide layer has been formed, wherein the gelatinous removing liquid contains urea peroxide, nitric acid, and methyl cellulose sodium.
