PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve shift responsiveness while limiting a driving frequency for preventing the loss of synchronism of a step motor. SOLUTION: This shift control device of the belt type continuously variable transmission has a pulley rotating speed detecting means for detecting a rotating speed of a primary pulley or a secondary pulley, and a shift control part 32 controlling hydraulic pressure for determining the gear ratio of the continuously variable transmission 10 by operating the step motor 40. A driving speed of the step motor 40 is limited with two or more of the temperature of a hydraulic fluid of the shift control part 32, the gear ratio of the continuously variable transmission 10 and the rotating speed detected by the pulley rotating speed detecting means, as a parameter.
