<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low-cost ferromagnetic shape-memory alloy which is excellent in magnetic properties and processibility and is suitable as a magnetic field-sensitive actuator or a sensor utilizing magnetism. <P>SOLUTION: The ferromagnetic shape-memory alloy has a composition comprising 20-32 atom% Ga, 15-45 atom% Fe, at least one chosen from Co, Mn and Al and the balance comprising Ni and unavoidable impurities, wherein the balance among Ga, Fe, Co, Mn, Al and Ni satisfies formula (1): [Ni]<SB>44-x-y</SB>-([Fe]<SB>1-a-b</SB>[Co]<SB>a</SB>[Mn]<SB>b</SB>)<SB>30+x</SB>-([Ga]<SB>1-c</SB>[Al]<SB>c</SB>)<SB>26+y</SB>and has either a single-phase structure comprising an austenitic phase with an ordered bcc structure or a two-phase structure consisting of an austenitic phase with an ordered bcc structure and a disordered phase with an fcc structure. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
