<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus equipped with a fixing unit sufficiently adaptive to high-speed printing. <P>SOLUTION: A form cassette containing recording media is arranged at a lower position in an image forming apparatus housing and a transfer section which transfers a toner image to a recording medium and a fixation section which fixes the toner image transferred to the recording medium are arranged above the form cassette. The transfer section is installed opposite one of a plurality of belt tension rollers around which an intermediate transfer belt is tensed and a plurality of photoreceptor drums are horizontally arranged above the intermediate transfer belt. The fixation section has a fixing belt tensed around the plurality of fixing belt tension rollers and the fixing belt is arranged along a recording medium conveyance path almost in the same direction with an array of the plurality of photoreceptor drums.
