<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information providing system for making information to be transmitted to a user different according to media by preventing the information from being specified into one information. <P>SOLUTION: In the reading stand-by status of medium identification information in a normal time, a light emitting element 51 for guidance in the left-hand side outer periphery emits the rays of lights, and when merchandise to which the first IC tag is attached is made to approach the neighborhood of a first light emitting part 50, the medium identification information is read from the first IC tag by a first IC reader 30. Then, the light emitting element 51 for guidance lights out, and a light emitting element 61 for guidance emits the rays of light. Then, when a second IC tag in the configurations of a member card is made to approach according to guidance by the light emission, user identification information is read from the second IC tag by a second IC reader 40.
