PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toner in which the occurrence of a belt-like or stripe-like image defect is suppressed in a fixed image to be formed while a sufficient mold releasability is obtained by using a release agent of a low melting point, and in which the satisfactory fixed image can be obtained; and to provide an image forming method using the same. SOLUTION: The toner contains a binder resin, a colorant and the mold releasing agent, in which the release agent includes a first release agent component which is a straight chain hydrocarbon compound having a melting point of 50 to 100°C and a second release agent component which is a hydrocarbon compound with a branched chain structure and/or cyclic structure having a melting point of 50 to 100°C and the ratio of the second release agent component in the release agent is 5 to 90mass%. The image forming method obtains the fixed image by fixing the toner image formed on a transfer material by the toner in a fixing nip area of a fixing device of a contact heating system, in which the fixing temperature in the fixing nip area is in the state higher by 10 to 50°C than the melting point of the release agent.
