The module (7) has regulated catalyzer, which is locking to the Lambda-Sonde (2,3) and the motor control device (5) of the motor vehicle. The regulated catalyzer has medium to occasionally increase the lambda value, with which the engine of the motor vehicle is operated. Retrofitting module is connected to a data bus e.g. CAN data bus. INDEPENDENT claims are also included for the following: (1) a data memory with vehicle-specific emission factor deployed in the module (2) a system for the reduction of the fuel consumption of motor vehicles.
