PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an intake control device of an engine, which purifies the atmosphere when a vehicle travels by collecting particulate components and gaseous phase components in the air through an engine intake route while maintaining the operating performance of the engine. SOLUTION: A plurality of filter devices with different filtrating performances for filtering the air sucked into the engine are selectively used according to the operating conditions of a vehicle. The filter devices are different from each other in ventilation resistance and substances to be collected. The operating conditions of the vehicle include the operating conditions of the engine, traveling environmental conditions of the vehicle, and the deterioration conditions of the filter devices with relatively larger ventilation resistances among the filter devices. For example, when the engine 1 outputs a high power, an air cleaner 4 with a small ventilation resistance is used. When the engine 1 outputs a low power, a high-performance filter device 3 with a large ventilation resistance is used. Or, when the atmosphere in the traveling environment of the vehicle is deteriorated, the atmosphere is purified by using the high-performance filter device 3. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
