<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a consumables management system capable of suppressing the downtime of a machine to be managed as much as possible by a procedure independent of a communication means. <P>SOLUTION: On the side of a user U, a printer system 100 constituted of connecting an image forming apparatus 200 for printing out images and a plurality of personal computers 300 for instructing the image forming apparatus 200 to print out images to a network 400 is installed. The image forming apparatus 200 is equipped with consumables required to be replaced at prescribed timing. Even when a print instruction is outputted from the personal computer 300 to the image forming apparatus 200, printing is not executed and the coming of replacement time of consumables is displayed on the screen of the personal computer 300. When the user U of the personal computer 300 reports the replacement to a service base S for managing consumables for replacement, a reset operation instruction is received from the service base S.
