<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal device of which the condensing efficiency is improved by optimizing a distance from a condenser to a light shielding film, and a projector. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal device has a plurality of condensers 33 which condense light incident on a liquid crystal 39 toward the center side of a pixel. The liquid crystal device is characterized by having a ratio of C to P, C/P, satisfying an inequality 1<C/P<2.5 when diagonal length of the pixel is represented by P, an intersection of an optical axis AX and an aperture plane of the light shielding film BM is represented by A, the point farthest from A of the condenser 33 on the optical axis AX is represented by B, and the distance between A and B is represented by C. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
