DIFFERENTIATION OF NEURAL STEM CELL AND THERAPEUTIC USE THEREOF

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of selectively producing neural cells, including neurons or glial cells, in vitro or in vivo, also to provide methods of treating or ameliorating neurodegenerative disease or medical conditions by producing neural cells.

SOLUTION: A combination of various kinds of factors is used for achieving two steps: a step for increasing the number of neural stem cells; and a step for indicating the neural stem cells so as to be selective to the neurons and the glial cells to produce neural precursor cells or glial precursor cells. The production of cells of limited systems are promoted by (a) administering the factor capable of increasing the number of the neural stem cells to a mammal, and (b) subjecting the mammal to a condition promoting the production of the cells of the limited systems to treat or ameliorate the neurodegenerative disease or the medical conditions.
