PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce computational complexity when converting image data in a YCbCr format to other image data in an RGB format, or the like. SOLUTION: An image processing unit 1 comprises an image division means 11 for dividing the image data GYCC, where the color component of pixels is given by three values Y, Cb, Cr in YCbCr color space, into a unit processing unit MCUk consisting of Nh×Nw pixels Pij; a YCC component extraction means 12 for extracting a Y component Yij, a Cb component Cbij, and a Cr component Crij of each pixel Pij for composing the MCUk; a processing block division means 13 for dividing the MCUk into a processing block B consisting of at least two pixels; and a Y component substitution means 14 for substituting each Y component Yij of all pixels Pij for composing B for their representative values, when the mutual distance YS between the Y components Yij of respective pixels Pij for composing B is shorter than a mutual distance setting value YS*.
