PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device in which excessive current load is not applied to a TFT for off voltage holding in the buffer of a gate scanning circuit. SOLUTION: A gate scanning circuit includes a TFT 24 for on-pulse writing which is turned on not only in a period when an on-gate pulse is written on the basis of an output enable signal but also in a period when a gate off level is output by the output enable signal, and a TFT 22 for off-voltage holding which holds the off level by supplying a gate off voltage from a DC power supply in a period when no on-pulse is written in the gate line. The TFT 22 for off-voltage holding is turned on in a half period of one field period; the TFT 24 for on-pulse writing is turned on in the other half period, and by regarding n pieces of gate lines as one block, a period of turning on the TFT 24 for on-pulse writing is shifted by each block.
