PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydraulic control device reducing dragging torque during non-engagement of a lock-up clutch. SOLUTION: The hydraulic control device for a torque converter with the lock-up clutch includes: an operating oil passage connected to an oil passage; a first port to which control oil pressure is supplied; a second port to which a line pressure is supplied; a third port; a fourth port connected to the operating oil passage; a shift valve in which, for engagement of the lock-up clutch, the second and the fourth ports are connected by the control oil pressure supplied to the first port, and the line pressure supplied to the second port is passed through the fourth port and a first operating oil is supplied to the operating oil passage, and for release of engagement of the lock-up clutch, connection between the second and the fourth ports are cut off, and when the engagement of the lock-up clutch is released, the third and the fourth ports are connected; and a discharge oil passage connected to the third port. A drain port of the oil discharge passage is disposed at a position higher than the outer diameter of a hydraulic piston. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
