PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure for improving fuel economy performance of an automobile mounted with a continuously variable transmission, by improving efficiency at a normally using speed in traveling in a city part. SOLUTION: The toroidal continuously variable transmission 12, first and second both planetary gear units 14a and 15a, both clutches 21a and 22a for a low speed and a high speed, are arranged between an input shaft 11 and an output shaft 17. Both modes of a low speed and a high speed are switched by engagement-disengagement of both clutches 21a and 22a for the low speed and the high speed. A gear neutral state of stopping the output shaft 17 while rotating the input shaft 11, is realized in a low speed mode state. A power split state of bypassing a part of motive power sent to the output shaft 17 from the input shaft 11 from the toroidal continuously variable transmission 12, is realized in a high speed mode state. The modes are switched in a state of being 0.5 or less in the gear ratio between the input shaft 11 and the output shaft 17. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
