摘要 <p>In a method for shaping the edge region of a flat element, consisting of supporting layer(s) (5) and covering layer(s) (6) and given a final shape by a forming procedure, where the cross-section is partially reduced in the edge region to form weakened zone(s) (7) and the element is deformed along the weakened zone then fixed, at least one weakened zone is produced during shaping of the element. A method is claimed for shaping the edge region of a flat element consisting of supporting layer(s) (5) and covering layer(s) (6), optionally including areas of different density, thickness and/or surface form and given a final shape by a forming procedure (specifically thermoforming and/or pressing). The cross-section is partially reduced in the edge region to form weakened zone(s) (7), and the element is deformed (specifically bent) at least once along the weakened zone then fixed (specifically by abstracting heat). The novel feature is that at least one weakened zone is produced during shaping of the element (specifically by pressing the layers). Independent claims are included for: (1) apparatus (specifically a press) for shaping a flat element with supporting and covering layers (5, 6) as above (preferably by the above process), having at least one mold cavity with (optionally in dircrete regions) an adjustable height shaping element (specifically a pressing punch), the novel feature being that at least one (preferably adjustable) element is located in the mold cavity (at least in the edge region) to produce the weakened zone(s) (7) of reduced cross-section; and (2) a shaped article consisting of a flat element with supporting and covering layers (5, 6) as above, at least one bent edge region and weakened zone(s) (7) spaced from the edge of the element, the novel feature being that the cross-section of the edge region of the element is unchanged or reduced during its shaping (specifically by bending).</p>
