The method involves modular manufacturing of an electrical lamp (1). Two plate-like element (2,3) are provided as separate elements. A functional unit (4) is inserted between the two plate-like elements, and plate-like elements are joined together. The insertion of the functional unit takes place under process conditions which correspond to the conditions for insertion of filling gas into electrical lamp. An independent claim is also included for an electrical lamp, which has plate-like elements joined together.
