OPTICAL PICKUP DEVICE HAVING CHROMATIC ABERRATION CORRECTION LENS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical pickup device and an optical recording and reproducing apparatus each provided with a single objective lens and capable of correcting a chromatic aberration.

SOLUTION: The optical pickup device includes: a light source 10 to emit light; an objective lens 60 to focus the light made incident from the light source side on a recording medium 1 to form a light spot, whose numerical aperture is at least 0.85 and both surfaces are aspheric; an optical path changer arranged on an optical path between the light source 10 and the objective lens 60 to change the traveling path of incident light; a chromatic aberration correction lens 40 disposed on the optical path between the light source 10 and the objective lens 60 to correct the chromatic aberration due to a change in the wavelength and/or due to an increase in a wavelength bandwidth of the light emitted from the light source; and a photodetector 90 to receive light which is reflected from the recording medium 1 and is then made incident thereon through the optical path changer.
