摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a positive electrode active material and a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery having high capacity wherein cycle characteristics, low-temperature heavy load characteristics, and safety can be improved. <P>SOLUTION: A positive electrode 2 has a positive electrode active material, and the positive electrode active material is obtained by mixing zirconium (Zr)-containing lithium cobalt complex oxide containing zirconium as a sub-component element with the lithium cobalt complex oxide expressed by a formula Li<SB>t</SB>CoM<SB>s</SB>O<SB>2</SB>(M is at least one kind of elements selected from Fe, V, Cr, Ti, Mg, Al, B, and Ca. "s" is in a range of O&le;s&le;0.03, and "t" is in a range of 0.05&le;t&le;1.15), and the lithium cobalt complex oxide expressed by a formula Li<SB>x</SB>Co<SB>1-y</SB>A<SB>y</SB>O<SB>2</SB>(A is at least one kind of elements selected from Mg and Al. x and y are respectively in the range of 0.05&le;x&le;1.15, and in the range of 0.05&le;y&le;0.03). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
