PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve fine control of temperature by appropriately supplying power to a heating means even when a power supply duty is >50%, regarding a fixing apparatus or an image forming apparatus equipped with the fixing apparatus. SOLUTION: In the temperature control method for the fixing apparatus, when the power supply is >duty 50%, a first period provided to intermittently supply the power to the heating means and a third period provided to continuously supply the power to the heating means are set in a prescribed period so that the power supply amount may become the target one with the combination of the first period and the third period. In the first period, the power is supplied to the heating means with a power supply pattern constituted of power supply of one unit and non power supply of one unit, and in the subsequent third period, the power is continuously supplied to the heating means.
