PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new tantalum complex applicable to a component of a catalyst for olefin polymerization. SOLUTION: The tantalum complex is expressed by formula (1) (in the formula, A is a group 14 element in the periodic table; R<SP>1</SP>-R<SP>4</SP>are each a hydrogen atom, an aralkyl group or the like; R<SP>5</SP>-R<SP>10</SP>are each a hydrogen atom, an aryl group or the like; X<SP>1</SP>is an optional halogen atom; Y is an anionic ligand; and Z is a neutral ligand).
