PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductor device which can increase the quantity of incident light by a simple structure, and also to provide a method of manufacturing the semiconductor device. SOLUTION: In a semiconductor device 30 having a transparent member 37 on the upper surface of a light receiver 32 provided on the major surface of a semiconductor element 31, the transparent member 37 is mounted to first and second projections 36-A, 36-B formed on the major surface of the semiconductor element 31 and outside the light receiver 32 so as to surround the light receiver 32, and the first and second projections 36-A, 36-B prevent an adhesive 35 for fixing the transparent member 37 and the semiconductor element 31 from flowing into the light receiver 32.
