<p>An EL display apparatus and a method for driving the same are provided to equalize power consumption in a display screen by varying a duty ratio according to a lighting rate, which is a rate on a maximum current flowing in an anode or a cathode of a panel. An EL(Electro Luminescence) display apparatus includes first and second gate drivers(12a,12b), and a selection control circuit(81). The first and second gate drivers select pixel columns for writing an image signal and for turning on EL elements, respectively. The selection control circuit includes first and second signal lines, which are connected to the first and second gate drivers, respectively. Operation rates of the first and second gate drivers are different from each other. The selection control circuit converts the state of a pixel column, which is selected by at least one of the first and second gate drivers, to non-selected state when a first pixel column selected by the first gate driver is the same as a second pixel column selected by the second gate driver.</p> |
