<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which can improve user-friendliness by performing an output of different content according to an image formation situation when running out a recording sheet of a demanded paper size of a user in a paper feeding means upon image formation, so as to accurately prompt the user to respond to a paper feeding error. <P>SOLUTION: When it judges that there is no paper feeding means to hold the recording sheet of the paper size coincident to the paper size demanded of the image formation of image data by paper side judgment means 9 and 90 in the state which can be judged that the recording sheet is in at least one paper feeding means by the paper presence or absence detection means 71 and 72 to the image forming apparatus 1 which forms an image in the recording paper sent from one of the first and second paper feeding means, when the judgment is made before the image formation start, the first output is performed.
