PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact piezoelectric oscillator wherein deterioration in the strength of a substrate caused by the formation of a recessed part or the like for the connection of a piezoelectric resonator is prevented and the shock resistance characteristic of which is improved. SOLUTION: In the crystal oscillator 10 as the piezoelectric oscillator disclosed herein, the crystal resonator 20 as the piezoelectric resonator is connected to the substrate 11 acting like a base by an anisotropic conductive film 14 and a circuit 30 is connected to an air gap between the crystal resonator 20 and the substrate 11 above the substrate 11. The substrate 11 is made of an insulation material of an almost flat plate, and a connection terminal 12 with the crystal resonator 20 and a connection terminal 13 with the circuit 30 are formed on the upper side of the substrate 11.
