PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video audio recording device for preventing release of an external input video recording mode, which is not intended. SOLUTION: The video audio recording device is configured such that when the external input video recording mode is started, the device urges a user to input the number of external input video recording times as a threshold value of releasing the external input video recording mode, when the number of entry times is inputted, the device apparently turns off power to bring itself to a monitoring state for monitoring an external input, when the external input is received, the device turns on power, starts external input video recording, when no external input is present, the device shifts to the monitoring state, when no external input is present and power-on is instructed, the device turns on the power, determines whether the external input video recording is executed more than the established number of times, when the external input video recording is not executed for the number of the established times or more and the power-off is instructed next, the device shifts to the monitoring state, and when the external input video recording is executed for the number of the established times or more, the device releases the external input video recording mode, and when the power-off is instructed next, the device shifts to the power-off state.
