PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a noise reduction method in a tomographic image data set by the wavelet analysis. SOLUTION: At least two statistically unrelated 3D volume data sets A and B are 3D wavelet-transformed respectively by the low-range filtering and the high-range filtering in three space directions of the three dimensional volume data sets, and at least one initial data set with a wavelet coefficient is computed for each 3D volume data set. The correlation coefficient of the same wavelet coefficient is computed from the initial data set, and a new wavelet data set is computed by weighting of the wavelet coefficient of at least one initial data set depending on the computed correlation coefficient of the wavelet coefficient of the initial data set.
