PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an airplane warning light system equipped with a self-recovery means for properly recovering itself by repairing circuit open by itself when the circuit open of a discharge lamp occurs. SOLUTION: This airplane warning light system is provided with: a lamp lighting device 16 for lighting the discharge lamp; a circuit open detection means 25 for detecting the circuit open of the discharge lamp; a lighting mode changeover circuit 29 for controlling and changing over a lighting mode of the discharge lamp to either of at least a high-power mode for lighting the discharge lamp with large power, and a low-power mode for lighting the discharge lamp with small power; and the self-recovery means 32 for controlling the lighting mode to be changed over from a night lighting mode to a daytime lighting mode when the lighting mode of the discharge lamp is in the night lighting mode when the circuit open is detected by the circuit open detection means.
