PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an outdoor unit for an air conditioner with easy attachment of a compressor chamber part front plate. SOLUTION: An outer casing 1a having a compressor chamber built incorporated with a compressor is composed of a top board 3 arranged on a ceiling face, a unit base 2 having a flange 2a bent upwards, a blow-out opening part front plate 5 provided on a blow-out opening 4, the compressor chamber part front plate 8 covering a front part of the compressor chamber 6, and a right side plate 9 covering a side face part. Since a protruding part 11 facing an inner side is provided on a lower part of the compressor chamber part front plate 8 such that the compressor chamber part front plate 8 is secured and held on a flange 2a upper end of the unit base 2 when it is slid to a final attachment position, and the protruding part 11 is secured and held on the flange 2a upper end of the unit base 2 when attaching the compressor chamber part front plate 8, attachment work of the compressor chamber part front plate 8 can be positively and easily carried out by one person without deviating downward.
