PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a porous body having a new structure excellent in heat resistance and hydrothermal resistance and suitably utilizable for applications such as a catalyst or an adsorbent. SOLUTION: This porous body is composed of an Si-containing substance in which the amount of Q<SP>4</SP>Si atom accounts for 90% or more of the total amount of Si atoms, and has at least one peak at the position of 40-80Åd spacing.
